Décembre 1919. Alexander Berkman et Emma Goldman sont expulsés des États-Unis en Russie soviétique aux côtés de 247 autres anarchistes et radicaux. Débute un long voyage transatlantique au bord du Buford, le même paquebot qui deviendra, quelques années plus tard, le décor de La Croisière du Navigator de Buster Keaton. À l’aide de techniques photochimiques et d’archives inédites, Navigators transforme cette comédie burlesque en un document retraçant un exil.

December 1919. Alexander Berkman and Emma Goldman are deported from the United States alongside 247 other Russian-born anarchists and radicals. They cross the Atlantic on the Buford — the same ship that would later become the decor of Buster Keaton’s slapstick comedy The Navigator (1924). Through photochemical lab work and rarely-seen archives, Navigators recasts Keaton as the chronicler of the deportees’ exile to Soviet Russia.
